The Mask
I think I pretty much speak for everyone when I say, we are sick of wearing these masks. Is it helping? Is it necessary? It is so hot out yet we do what must be done. People look at me like I'm crazy in the stores. Sometimes I feel like I'm only one with a mask on. Are things really getting better? Is this vaccine ever gonna be discovered? Is it gonna work?
I live in Ohio, and there has been a mandatory mask to be worn by anyone in a public place. Our governor has been great at trying to keep our state safe. A lot of us our upset with him because sometimes doing whats best for the people isn't easy. He's had to make changes, and very hard decisions. I'm glad I don't have to make them. During the beginning of the pandemic Mike Dewine was one of the first governors to shutdown their state due to the coronavirus. Everything from the schools, to jobs We were at a standstill, but there he was everyday at 2 pm giving us hope that this wasn't gonna last forever. He gave us the facts, and the things we should do to prepare for the worst. He has done all he can to try and keep our state safe.
Months have past. The stay at home orders have been lifted a couple months. People have finally been able to breathe a little fresh air. The masks start to come off. Everyone is feeling a sense of freedom again. Virus cases over the last couple weeks have started to rise. Most in part because we have found more efficient ways of testing for it.
Ironically free testing sites have sprung up all over the place. This virus has put its code in just about everyone. Seems like its more contagious then anyone could have ever imagined. What about all the people who paid a fortune to actually get the test before? Why is it free now? Not that I'm complaining about free, but are those who had to pay getting reimbursed? I doubt it. It seems as though they need that count up very high. We know it is. We know its everywhere. Why is it such a shock to everyone. Still..we wear the masks!
Its been a crazy few months. From the pandemic, to the riots, to murder hornets. You would think the end times were here. Bad things have been happening all around us to where we forget that there is even a pandemic going on. Still..we wear the masks. It's almost like through all of this, the masks have made us feel safe. Not just for the virus, but everything else. Where evil is conquering, we wear the masks for protection.
The masks are a false sense of security that have driven people mad. It doesn't do much good against a microscopic virus. However it gives us a sense of security that we are protected. Washing your hands and keeping your distance from people seem to be the only sure way to prevent catastrophe, yet we still wear the masks.
For the last couple days people in Ohio have been fearing that our governor was going to shut everything down again due to the huge rise in cases of the virus. Everyone was speculating that it was gonna happen. No word, until today when the governor was going to speak at 5:30. He delivered a speech that only Mike Dewine could. He didn't shut things down like everyone had thought he would. Instead he reassured how important it was that we fight together in the battle against the virus. How strong Ohio is, and that we are some of the strongest people in the country. He recommended we all wear a mask in public, but didn't make it mandatory. He assured us that we can do this, and that we will defeat the virus!
I gotta admit, I was a little worried about getting shut down again. Not knowing how to pay the bills. Not knowing if the grocery stores were gonna be empty again. The not knowing, is the scariest thing. One thing I do know, is that I am Ohio strong! I am thankful for everything! I count my blessings everyday, and I encourage you to do the same. Most importantly in this time of uncertainty, we must all wear are masks to defeat the invisible enemy.😷
